Luscious greenery, moonlit skies and a handful of moths – key elements in a spot recently produced out of 49 Ontario. This spot is the first of its kind for Toronto, where 3D took a starring role.
CGI moths and visual effects were spearheaded by the talented 49 Ontario team of Inferno artists/VFX Compositors, Brent Whitmore, Darren Achim and Alex Boothby. Real moths were purchased to use as reference as the team created, textured and animated the moths. Special attention was paid to rigging in order to add personality. The moonlit sky was also built from scratch, as was the hand-painted electricity around the cup, giving it more life.
Additional VFX included set extension, mostly in the establishing shot of the cabin off the top, where the ground was extended, and trees were added to the foreground – a complete build of the forest environment.
The team was also on set, providing supervision the day of production.
Note: No moths were harmed throughout the making of this spot.
